FAQ

Where are the Galapagos Islands?

The Galapagos Islands are located in the Pacific Ocean, 600 miles / 1000 km off the coast of Ecuador in South America

How do I get to the Galapagos Islands?

Firstly you need to flight to Ecuador, since all incoming flights are domestic and depart from the major cities either Quito (UIO) or Guayaquil (GYE).

There are two airports in Galapagos: Baltra Airport (GPS) touristically speaking is the most important it connects to Santa Cruz Island and the second airport is in San Cristobal (SCY).

There is also a small landing strip on Isabela Island for hopper planes that operate between three inhabited islands Isabela, Santa Cruz and San Cristobal.

When is the best time of year to visit the Galapagos Islands?

Is a hard question to answer, for us, the best time to come depends on your individual interests and needs, since the high peaks of land and sea life happen at different times, the Galapagos Islands really are an all year-round destination

How long should I stay in Galapagos for?

On average tourists stay 4 or 5 nights, but its not enough. In my opinion 8 nights will do the trick and the ideal way is to combine a cruise adventure with land based tours in Santa Cruz.

What are the Galapagos park’s fees?

There are two different fees:

Before arriving to Galapagos:

  • Immigration Card: At the airport in Quito or Guayaquil guests must visit the Galapagos Immigration Control desk, show their IDs, and pay $20 per person to purchase their card. Please note that the card is required upon arrival in Galapagos and during departure as well.

Once in Galapagos:

  • Entrance fee: There is a Park Entry fee which at present is $200 per adult and $100 for children <12 years.
